a breif hiatus has come to an end

And now for one of those updates that I promised months ago....

I have to apologize, I am terrible at updating any kind of social media.  Mostly I never really feel like I have anything to say, and that goes doubly so when it comes to my artwork.  Of which there hasn't really been much of anything to talk about anyway.  It's like some sort of sick cycle where I don't really have much to say about stuff that isn't actually happening. That I don't talk about.  Stuff.

But I was recently kind of somewhat laid off of one of my three jobs.  I've been doing temp work at a local community college for the past year, and I ran out of available hours to work this fiscal year while I was waiting for my application for a full-time position to go through.  So while I wait for all of the red tape that comes with a state job to get sorted out, I find myself with considerably more time than I am used to.  So finally, time for more art!

I only have two projects going on right now - a tattoo commission and a personal thing purely to satisfy a nagging sense of whimsy that has been lingering around for a bit.

Here's the tattoo commission.  You'll have to excuse the instagram filter - my cell phone keeps washing the image out.  This will be primarily watercolor.

This is the personal project, or at least a piece of it.  The figure is based off of a photograph by Zhang Jingna called "Celosia."  You can find it on their website at zhangjingna.com.  The bear skull and the funny floating baubles, well those are all me. :)

The tattoo piece is going to be primarily watercolor.  At least at this point I think it will be.  I may or may not add in some elements from another medium.

The personal piece will have a base layer of acrylic before I go over it with about 10,000 oil glazes.  Well, maaaayyyyyybe not that many, but it will seem like 10,000 after the first few.

I am open to suggestions for name.  I am terribly at naming pieces.  If I had it my way, I would name work like Neil Gaiman titles his chapters, like "Personal Piece #25, In Which A Lovely And Attractive Young Lady Finds Herself Nude, As Well As Wearing A Bear Skull And Surrounded By Several Floating Gold Orbs That Reflect The Light Just So."

I"m really excited to be able to take on more projects and actually be able to finish them in a timely fashion.  And to maintain this site!  Regularly!  I need to get more comfortable with posting progress shots.  I am always interested to see them from other artists my own self, so I like to think that maybe someone will get something out of it? Maybe?

Cool.  Well, thanks for reading!  Hope everyone is well, and have a great day!
